One of our green keepers assured me in July that August was to be the hottest on record....we are now in the middle, and nothing so far!! But glad to see the weather still isn't putting you all off. Thanks to Alex Hall, for his comments about the course. I will pass on your kind remarks to the greens staff, who have managed in all weathers this past few weeks. Just wanted to let everyone know that we have placed an advert in the new Lancaster and Morecambe mag "Your Local List" If you bring the ad with you, you will receive a discount on your green fee!! Just wanted to mention too, that the deer is back and was seen racing down the ninth fairway last Thursday. Frightened the 3 ball on the green!! So panick over. Martin and I seem to have done some mileage these past few weeks. Ryan is playing in the Lancashire U14 boys squad, and we are loving watching him. The team are top of the league and they are a great bunch of lads and deserve their position for the hard work they put in. The Lancashire officials put so much time in to make this happen and we would like to thank them all. The weather hasn't been too kind to them either, but it doesn't seem to bother the boys. 3 or 4 of the lads started their golf at Ashton Golf Centre, which makes us very proud. Sunny July 07/31/2010
Well, the months are flying by and despite the rain, our dedicated golfers still keep playing the course. So thank you all for that. Have to ask the question. Why is it that, no sooner do united utilities, introduce a hosepipe ban, the heavens open and it doesn't stop raining?? Still, glad to see that the great british weather isn't putting off our golfers. It has been hard for the greens staff, these last few weeks. With the warm temperatures and the rain, the grass is growing like mad. Everyone keeps telling me that August will see record breaking temperatures. Lets hope it will be in the North West so we can fill the patio with golfers, enjoying a cool drink after their round of golf. Just a quick note about the Lancashire County Junior Golf Teams, that have recently played against Durham and Yorkshire, both massively close matches with both games finishing a draw. Good luck to the boys for their next Junior game aginst Cheshire. If anyone has any news that they want us to write about, give us a shout at the golf centre and we will do our best to get it out there. Stunning Golf Course 04/21/2010
Ashton Golf Centre is enjoying a great start to the new golf season. Since The Masters 2010 we have seen a steady increase in visitors to the Golf Centre, with many more golf group bookings from all over Lancashire. The hard work over the winter is definitely paying off now and to see the course in such great condition is fantastic. We have ordered some of the fab photos that were taken by Dove Photography at last Friday's Memorial Golf Day. We will be posting the photos in the club house when they arrive, but you can get a sneak preview on the Dove Photography website . It was nice to hear the great comments about the course especially from Lancaster Golf Club members!! We would like to remind you that The Cafe is open to everyone using The Centre, with many special offers. Summer Tees 03/25/2010
We are pleased to announce that we have been able to go back on the summer tees earlier than expected. Mainly due to the good weather, but also due to the hard work of the green keepers. The course is looking amazing and the customers are showing their appreciation by turning up in droves. The whole place is getting busier which is lovely to see after the hard work. Group bookings have increased from last year, due to our new web marketing strategy and the competitive tailor made packages on offer. A couple of groups have re-booked, which speaks volumes.... Golf Lessons At Ashton Golf Centre Lancaster 03/05/2010
Just added a new picture to the website...our teaching pro Stuart Booth. Stuart has been busy this week contacting all the local school in Lancaster, offering them the opportunity to take up golf. Junior golf is on the increase all over the country, especially with golf becoming part of the Olympic Games in 2014. For the UK to grow new talent, we need to invest in our Juniors and get them out on the golf course. Many golfing parents believe that they can teach their children golf themselves and this is great, but we also recommend that to get them started properly they take some lessons from a qualified professional. Stuart offers group lessons for Juniors and it is a great starting point for boys and girls who show an interest in the golf game. The Junior Golf Academy in Lancaster is very popular. It is also amazingly reasonable at £22.50 for 5 one hour sessions. The children will learn the golf stance, the golf grip and the golf swing in a fun and friendly environment. They will also get qualified advise on equipment and golf etiquette, as well as making new friends and learning new lifelong skills and all this in the outdoors. What could be better? Stuart also offers adult lessons, either on a one 2 one basis or in a group. Call Stuart for golf lessons at Lancaster's pay and play golf course, Ashton Golf Centre. 07884135784 The Golf Course is looking lovely this time of year, with the spring sunshine making evrything fresher and brighter and our family of deer are regularly showing their faces on the fairway. We are open to everyone and only a 5 minute drive from Lancaster. Come along and see for yourself.... Good weather in Lancashire yesterday, meant a great start to March, with many pay and play golfers enjoying, possibly, the warmest day this year. Let's hope this year's weather is altogether better than last. I have registered Ashton Golf Centre on twitter and am busy searching for great tweets to follow, so we can give our customers lots of interesting info and golf offers. So keep checking back on the website for golf tips. If you have a twitter account then you can follow our tweets. We also have a group on facebook, so why not become our "friend" it is easy to do, just click on the picture of on our contact us page. I spent the day in Ulverston yesterday, with an internet marketing guru, Kay Hebbourn. We had an amazing time and I learnt so much about getting Ashton Golf Centre known worldwide. After a couple of hours of brain frazzling internet marketing, we went for a lovely work with her 3 dogs, to clear the mind and get some really fresh air... What a stunning view.. A Beautiful Saturday. 02/28/2010
Great to see all those old faces....I mean "familiar faces" at Ashton Golf Centre today. The sun was shining, the air warmer and the course has fortunately not been affected by Friday's rain. Martin and I are definitely missing Biff doing all the running around....up and down the stairs, serving the beer, cant wait till he's back! We have heard that Portugal are having some unseasonal weather, so i hope it is not spoiling the golf for him. Thanks to Sheila from Dove Photography AGAIN for making a special trip to Ashton to give us a new fridge. With more food on the go we are so grateful for the extra space...Thank you. Another thank you goes to Manchester City for beating Chelsea 4-2. Well Done The Blues!! First Post 02/26/2010
Just spent an enjoyable afternoon at the golf centre and despite the drizzle, customers are still wanting to get out on the course and use the driving range, which is great. I believe we had a visit from a friend of ours, at lunchtime, all the way from Dubai. A long way for a bacon butty! Sorry we missed you Alisdair. Biff is still in Portugal, so it could be a long weekend for Martin and I.....going to work on Ashleigh later for her to come and help. Thanks to you all for the lovely comments about the newsletter and the new website, it has been great working on them. If you have any suggestions of what we can add to the website I would love to hear about them. Going to work on Dave and Paul, about possibly doing a gardening page for the green fingered out there. 24/02/2010 Well, finally we have started our blog!! 2009 was a massive year for us and although the website and blog were high on the priority list, more pressing things needed to be sorted, such as sorting out the mess that the previous owner had left. As most of you will know, our main priority was making sure the course was playable, because, after all, what is a pay and play golf course without anywhere to play!! The greens have had a complete overhaul as they were in a real state, and we have been gradually making them bigger, getting them back to their original state. We have invested in new machinery for the fairways, the greens and the tees. This has made a huge difference to the condition of the golf course. Paul, Dave and Damo our greens staff have nurtured the greens back to life, not to mention the bunkers, which are now raked everyday, and are looking stunning. |
